025: Best Advice for Aspiring Goalkeepers
For our 25th episode, we brought back 13 of our previous guests – coaches who are teaching and training at the elite youth, college, professional and international levels. We asked them all one question: What’s the best advice you can offer to an aspiring goalkeeper?
These top coaches were generous with their insight, offering advice that’s relevant to kids just starting the position all the way to elite keepers trying to reach a bigger stage. The focuses ranged from technique to tactics to the overall approach, and the coaches emphasized courage, commitment, resilience, a love of the position, and more than a few tricks along the way.
The following coaches were kind enough to offer their time and insight for this episode (listed in order of appearance):
- Stephan Rigaud, Richmond United
- Oige Kennedy, Stanford Cardinal (M)
- Evan Prybutok, LaSalle Explorers (M)
- Carsten Eisenmenger, German Youth National Team (1999s)
- Chris Barocas, New York Red Bulls Academy
- Karl Spratt, New England Revolution Academy
- John Pascarella, Minnesota United FC
- Dan Blank, SoccerPoet.com
- Alex Kuehl, Shattuck-St. Mary’s Academy
- Aaron Rodgers, Ohio Bobcats (W)
- Stan Anderson, Camp Shutout
- Jenny Bindon, UCLA Bruins (W)
- Chris Sharpe, Colorado Rapids
