076: The Division 3 Experience with Eric Wiberg
Our college soccer series continues with Eric Wiberg, representing Division 3 and the University of Wisconsin – Steven’s Point. With more than a decade of experience coaching the Pointers and running Wiberg’s Wisconsin Goalkeeper School, Eric discusses all of the advantages and disadvantages you’ll find on D3 pitches and campuses.
While many are aware of Division 3’s most notable deficiency – the inability to award athletic scholarships – most are unaware of its many benefits, as well as the myriad ways to offset the lack of athletic financial aid. Eric discusses all of these aspects of college soccer and more.
He also addresses the best ways for young goalkeepers to make contact and catch the eye of college coaches – and the value of persistence in that quest. And once you’ve got the attention of a coach, he outlines several ways to make a good impression … as well as several ways to totally blow it.
Lots of value for those young keepers looking to continue their careers in college. I hope you enjoy it!
Special thanks to Eric Wiberg for joining me!
