044: Aubrey Bledsoe of Sydney FC
Just months after a demanding – and record-breaking – season with the NWSL’s Washington Spirit, Aubrey Bledsoe is back on the pitch, halfway around the world. For her winter vacation, Aubrey has backstopped Sydney FC of the Australian W-League all the way to the Grand Final.
In today’s episode, Aubrey talks about her diverse experience in the game, beginning with club and high school soccer in Cincinnati, Ohio. From there, she progressed to a standout college career at Wake Forest University and professional stints in New Jersey, Orlando and Washington, D.C. – as well as Norway, Denmark and Australia.
Aubrey also addresses the roles that other sports, including basketball, played in her athletic development, as well as the importance of her twin sister – and fellow goalkeeper – Amber. It all culminated in a breakout 2018 NWSL season, as well as a chance to take home Australia’s top domestic prize as part of Sydney FC.
After you listen to the show, be sure to check out Sydney’s W-League semi-final against Brisbane Roar and the Grand Final versus Perth Glory. I hope you enjoy the show!
