004: Chris Seitz of the Houston Dynamo
You learn a lot about a person in how they deal with life’s extremes: great success, great adversity and great change. Chris Seitz, first-team goalkeeper for the Houston Dynamo, has experienced all of those things and isn’t slowing down, just over 100 starts into his MLS career.
In today’s episode, Chris talks about his remarkable success at each level of his development, from California High School Player of the Year in 2004 to a College Cup at Maryland in 2005 to Supporter’s Shield and U.S. Open Cup honors with FC Dallas in 2016.
Chris joined Houston – his fourth MLS club – this season, and outlines his methods for quickly establishing a rapport with a new defense, as well as the value of coaching and the responsibilities of the keeper.
He also describes the events that led to his fateful 2012 encounter with Phil Richiuso, and the risks and sacrifices he endured to save Phil’s life. I hope you enjoy the show!
