093: Nicole DiPasquale of the TCNJ Lions
While some college coaches scoffed at the prospect of 5′ 5″ Nicole DiPasquale defending an NCAA goal, the two-time All-American had the last laugh. Nicole represented the TCNJ Lions for the past four years, earning three All-Conference, two All-Region, and two Conference Goalkeeper of the Year honors, in addition to three NJAC conference titles.
On today’s episode, Nicole talks about a career built on the pitches of New Jersey, and the people and practices that helped her achieve so much.
She discusses her early days in goal, how she played to her strengths and shored up her weaknesses, and how she never let her height define her. She also talks about her days on the lacrosse field and the basketball court, two sports she enjoyed throughout high school.
In addition, Nicole reflects on the importance of great goalkeeper coaching, and talks about her relationship with a pair of legends — Paul Blodgett and Hubert Birkenmeier — who helped shape her into the keeper she is today.
It’s a fun episode, featuring an accomplished young keeper. I hope you enjoy it!
Special thanks to Nicole DiPasquale for joining me!
