065: DiDi Haracic of Sky Blue FC
After learning the game in northern Virginia and developing her skills with the Loyola Greyhounds, DiDi Haracic has defended goals on both sides of the Atlantic and currently plies her trade with Sky Blue FC of the NWSL.
In today’s episode, DiDi discusses her path to the pros, including stints with her hometown Washington Spirit, a season in Sweden, and recent opportunities to represent her native Bosnia & Herzegovina at the international level.
Along the way, DiDi talks about the massive impact — both positive and negative — that coaches, parents and other authority figures can have on a young player’s development. She also addresses the importance of finding consistent minutes as a goalkeeper, and the necessity of trusting your instincts in a position where fractions of seconds can make or break a performance.
