006: Owain Fôn Williams of the Indy Eleven
From the grand stage of the 2016 UEFA European Championships to the inaugural USL season of the Indy Eleven, Owain Fôn Williams has defended the net around the globe and at every level. In today’s episode, he discusses the intangibles shared by the very best of those teams and clubs.
Owain talks about his development as a schoolboy in rural Wales, his discovery by scouts from Manchester United, and his playing career in England and Scotland. He also shares his reasons for crossing the Atlantic to be a part of Indy’s exciting first season in the USL.
Owain was part of the historic 2016 Welsh national team that turned heads across the globe as they marched to the semifinals of Euro 2016. He talks about the qualification process, his experience at the tournament in France, and the artwork he’s produced to help commemorate it.
Along the way, he addresses the value of camaraderie and a tight-knit locker room, as well as the relationship between starting and backup goalkeepers. I hope you enjoy the show!
